In a joint effort by the Residence of Parque Valle del Sol, the Santa Ana Municipality and the Habitasul Real Estate Developments S.A., repairs to the residential area access road have successfully begun this week. With a 5cm thick asphalt coating over a stretch of road approximately 1, 600 meters long, we hope to significantly improve the current road conditions. Part of the meticulous preparations for this recoating job, done by the Municipality and the Residential Team, included cleaning up the road and drain ways for adequate water drainage, as well as levelling the road base. The cost of this project is estimated to exceed ¢10, 000, 000 colones. In an agreement with the Avesol Board of Directors and in an effort to avoid any additional charges, this cost will be covered by the residential maintenance fee and financed by Habitasul.

In the GCSAA's (Golf Course Superintendents Association of America) information bulletin, July's 2002 Leader Board published a note indicating that since 1990, the amount of housing developments built around golf courses in the United States has increased by 80%, this equates to approximately 1,100 of these residential developments, this based on the October 2001 Bowden's Market Barometer. In 1990, only 35% of housing developments included golf courses, but by the year 2000 50% of new residential developments have their own golf courses. This trend is due mainly to the increasing interest caused by people who enjoy golf as a sport and to the vast green areas that the residences are built around.

Another interesting point is that only 30 out of 40% of residents or property owners of big golf course residential communities actually play golf!
