First Golf Tournament of 2003

We have reopened the tournament season at the prestigious Valle del Sol Golf Course with the Lexmark - Cuscatlan Bank Tournament. This tournament which was opened to the public was attended by 115 registered players on Friday January 24th from 8:30am to 1:30pm. Promoted at an attractive rate of $80.00 per person each attendee received tournament participation rights, use of a golf cart, a caddie, golf balls, breakfast, lunch, unlimited beverages, a T-shirt and awards. Thanks to the active participation of distinguished sponsors and co-sponsors, not only were there great prizes and trophies for the winners, but a great atmosphere could be felt throughout the course with kiosks for tastings and exhibitions of various products. The first place winner was Mr. Jorge Miranda, who with a 30 handicap reached the net score of 63 in 93 hits, took home 2 tickets to any part of the world via Continental Airlines! Other prizes for the rest of the winners included a one week stay at Cala Luna Hotel in Playa Tamarindo - vehicle included, a cell phone and Lexmark printers. Furthermore, the winner of the "Hole in One" contest, which was carried during the tournament, would take home a beautiful new grey 607 Peugeot parked on the 13th Hole. At the end of the tournament the 10 best players were able to test their luck with a second shorter range shot on Hole 3. Even though no one took home the prize, some of the players came very close as it can be observed in the accompanying photographs. Without a doubt the event was exciting and satisfying as much for players and sponsors as it was for the organizers and it concluded with a feeling of happiness in the participants on a sunny summer afternoon at Valle de Sol Golf Course.

 

Parque Valle del Sol, Acknowledged for its Environmental Excellence.

We were pleased to begin the New Year with a certification issued to our golf course by Audubon International. Parque Valle del Sol Golf Course, under the leadership of Golf Superintended Mark Dinan, was honored with the Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Award after completing the 6th and final category 'Outreach & Education' last December. This award recognizes the high levels of environmental quality at Parque Valle del Sol and acknowledges the numerous environmental programs developed at in the past few years. An example of such programs is the development of a natural wild life sanctuary within the golf course.

The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program, with the support of the United States Golf Association, brings information and support to golf courses around the world to preserve and promote wild habitats and protect natural resources. Parque Valle del Sol proudly becomes the 410th course in the world to receive this award!
